Large Full Length Freestanding Ornate Vintage Carved Solid Wood Mirror

  

This is a beautiful Large Full Length Freestanding Ornate Vintage Carved Solid Wood Mirror. It is a polished brown colour. The carved frame measures approximately 235 cm from the top of the crest (which is removable) to the floor.

The width is approximately 97.5 cm. The depth is about 62 cm at floor level. The wooden frame sits on carved lion's feet (x4), which are detachable for transportation purposes. The exterior wooden frame has columns, blocks with carved flowers, and a relief pattern across the front top and front bottom. As stated the crest at the top is detachable, slotting on or off, probably for transportation purposes.

The Mirror itself is encased in a plain polished wooden frame around the edges, with a plain wood ply type sheet to it's rear. This is secured by means of small metal plates, and screws at the corners, one of which is loose, which allows that corner to sit a bit proud of the frame, as shown in photographs 9 and 10. The glass has a bevelled edge and is in very good condition. The glass in it's immediate frame is attached to the main frame by means of a "thumbscrew" operated mechanism, and is able to swivel forwards and backwards.

This internal part of the mirror measures approximately: 159cm x 82cm x 2.5cm. Our child, who is a massive Harry Potter fan, used to pretend that it was the Mirror of Erised. There is a thumbnail sized scrape to the top right side as shown in photograph 3. There maybe other slight marks on the woodwork, however it is in very good condition for it's age.
